Treatments
THE LATEST TREATMENT TECHNIQUES & TECHNOLOGY.
At Body Management, our focus is staying at the forefront of the latest advances in techniques and technology, while empowering you to heal to your best ability.
As part of the Hurstville Musculoskeletal Institute at Hurstville Private Hospital, Body Management specialises in the treatment and prevention of orthopaedic injuries or conditions related to bones, ligaments and tendons.
These injuries and conditions are common, often caused by repetitive strain or force on the bone/joint, through activities like sport; or you might have had an acute traumatic event like a fall or a car accident. Whatever the cause, the pain and discomfort gets in the way of living — so whatever your injury or condition, it’s vital to get an early diagnosis and start treatment as soon as possible.

WHAT WE HANDLE.
PRP InjectionsPlatelet-rich plasma Therapy uses a concentration of your own blood platelets, injected directly into your injured or diseased body tissue, to accelerate the healing of your injured tendon, ligament, muscle or joint.
Hyaluronic Injections – Cingal, Durolane and Monovisc
These hyaluronic acid injections restore the cushioning and lubricating properties of a range of joints – including hips and knees.
They can assist in both the management of pain and restricted movement caused by osteoarthritis conservatively and effectively for up to 6 months. This can delay the need for invasive surgical options.
They are injected into a joint space using a sterile technique by the specialist under ultrasound guidance in our clinic.
Cortisone Injections
These shots can help relieve pain and inflammation in a specific area of your body. Usually, they’re injected into the joints — like your ankle, elbow, hip, knee, shoulder, spine or wrist.
Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy is also known as regenerative injection therapy or proliferation therapy. It’s an alternative method to help you repair injured joints and connective tissue.
Diagnostic Ultrasounds
This procedure is most often used in the shoulder, knee, hip, wrist, elbow and ankle – but it can also be helpful in other joints. To make sure the injection goes into the joint itself where it has a better chance of working, the injection needle is guided by using pictures or images, most often ultrasound.
Vo2 Max & Sub-max Testing
Here, we measure your maximum oxygen consumption during intense exercise. The test is performed by a qualified Physiotherapist/Exercise Physiologist alongside Dr Michael Jamieson. Once again, all your test results are provided to the referrer, in a written report.
Metabolic Efficiency Performed by Dr Michael Jamieson, this is also a non-invasive test. We get you to lie quietly for 10-15 minutes while your respiration is measured, reading your expired oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. We then use an algorithm to calculate your resting metabolic rate in kilocalories per day. It’s extremely helpful for structuring your best level of caloric intake.
Radiology, X-Ray & CT scans We have an on-site imaging centre at Hurstville Private for CT scans, X-Rays and ultrasound, which are available both during normal office hours and on-call. If you need an MRI, we refer you to the nearby Waratah Private Hospital. We also organise transport if you’re an in-patient. [Laverty pathology collection rooms are located within the Hospital on level 1, with no appointment required]
Bone Density These non-invasive scans take 10-30 minutes. All your test results are provided to the referrer, in a written report.
Body Composition A variation on the technology used for bone density, this non-invasive test is performed at Hurstville Private Hospital. It involves you lying in supine position and takes about 10 minutes. Afterwards, we give you a report on your ratio of lean body mass to skeletal and visceral fat.
Dieticians We can also help you understand the relationship between your health and what you eat, and how it affects your life — creating achievable dietary goals that suit your lifestyle.
